Muffin Flavors for May 8th!

Hey Everybody!

Thanks to all of you who came out in the wild Wyoming weather to get muffins last week!!  We sold nearly 100 muffins and raised…

Now, for those of you who have followed and supported our Muffin Mondays in May for the last 4 years you will notice that these are smaller numbers for us.  As always though God has a great plan!! With the extra muffins we had, we were able to provide the VOA Homeless Shelter with enough muffins to serve breakfast to the 20+ residents!!! Much of the food that the shelter needs to feed their residents is donated and it was truly a blessing to us to give in such a small way but it was so greatly appreciated by them.  See God is our provider, everyone’s provider!!!!  God provides in ways that we cannot always see or even understand; His great love for us deeper, wider, larger, and greater than we can  ever imagine!!

I wish I could say I had great pictures to show you from our first Muffin Monday this year but the changing weather kept us on our toes and our fingers stiff from the cold so no pictures this time!  Now let’s get to the yummy part of this post…flavors for this week!!! But first…

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!!!!

Tomorrow is our oldest sons birthday and he wants to celebrate and share with all of you.  To do that, he is giving away a free muffin of choice to anyone who is also having a birthday tomorrow!!! We have found an agency for Haiti!!!!

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months as we tried to find an agency to work with for our Haiti adoption.  Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and where there is poverty there is a great chance of corruption with almost all situations that involve money.  Therefore, we were very diligent and heavily relying on the Holy Spirit to lead us to an agency of good character, knowledgeable and wise in the ways of Haitian government, and with a primary focus on the children.  Our persistence (I’m sure all the agencies were tired of my multiple calls and rounds of questioning!) lead to a great assurance that we had found the right agency.  So without further a due, our Haiti adoption agency is (drumroll)….

Next we completed the Pre-Application paperwork and were accepted to complete the Formal Application paperwork.  We were approved and accepted to the agency and their Haiti program!!! Now, just over a week ago we received our paperwork to begin the dossier process & have a new home study completed (Our domestic home study does not meet the requirements of an international Hague accredited adoption so a new one has to be completed.).  The ball is actually starting to roll…YIPPEEE!!! As we work through collecting the reams of paper that will make up our dossier, the list of documents needed for our agency, and for our home study, we will give you a glimpse into what all this really means.  Unless you or someone close to you has adopted, there is much that is not known to the rest of us.  So I thought you might be interested in the realities of adoption…I know I am nosey about the adoption details of others!  Please feel free to ask us any questions along the way and we’ll do our best to answer them.  The more we can know about orphans, adoption, foster care, orphanages, and regulation both at home and abroad the better equipped we will be to fulfill the command our Father has given us…

“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27

Garage Sale & Closed-Bid Silent Auction

Our next fundraiser is quickly coming!

Friday & Saturday, June 27th & 28th, 8 am – 1 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1660 Big Horn Ave., Sheridan.  The closed-bid silent auction will end at noon on Saturday the 28th to allow time for bid winners to pick up their purchases.

We have been in awe of God’s quick & abundant provision for items to sell at our Garage Sale & Silent Auction Fundraiser!!  Here is a picture of what people have so generously given in 1 week and 1 day!!! I know it’s not the best picture (since my flash wasn’t strong enough for the enormity of it) but hopefully you can get a sense of how God is guiding and moving people to help orphans!

1 week and 1 day of donations!!!!

1 week and 1 day of donations!!!!

We are excited to continue accepting donations, so contact us if you have items you would like to donate.  We can pick them up or you can drop them off, we will cater to what is best for you.  What a treasure it has been to meet perfect strangers and to catch up with old friends as we accept donations from people all around the Sheridan area.  Our boys are even going through their toys and things with joy to sell them and make these adoptions for their brothers and sisters happen.  Though it is challenging for them to see the wonderful items that have been donated and not want to buy them and bring them home!  They have done a wonderful job helping, waiting, working, and entertaining others as we load and unload donations.   It is such a treasure for me to have my sons with me on all of our adventures in fundraising!

We have applied for a matching grant for the garage sale & auction and are waiting to here.  Please pray for all those at Lifesong for Orphans and at the Defending the Fatherless Fund to make the decision God has for them in helping our family.

Since this sale is going to be so very big, we will need some help to get it all done.  If you are able and would like to help, please click on the link below for VolunteerSpot.  This is our fundraising event volunteer board where you can see what help we need help and sign-up where you are best suited and available.

We Sold Out!

Our first Muffin Monday in May was a wonderful success! I woke up at 4:15 am and got the boys up at 4:45 am in order to get to the church early enough to bake the muffins. We arrived at the church just after 5 am and were greeted by the joyful smile & hug of our dear friend who came to help us bake.  I tucked the boys into their sleeping bags so they could get a little more rest; one fell back to sleep & one was ready to go!  By 6:30 we were setting up our table outside, putting up balloons, & bringing out warm, fresh baked muffins!  The boys and I took our positions at the table, as well as stood by the roadside to wave good morning to those passing by and encourage them to stop in for a warm breakfast treat.

After our first few customers, Sheridan Media stopped by to interview us and help get the word out.  You can listen to the interview here:  Thank you Judy, for taking the time to hear and share our story!  After a few more customers I noticed a man coming across the street, he said it was his birthday and he bought 5 muffins for himself. While boxing them up for him, we got to sing Happy Birthday to him! So much fun, we had!  There was not a steady stream of customers over the two hours and there were some long stretches where we didn’t have anyone stopping.  We continued to take turns waving to those passing by and unbeknownst to me, one of our sons was walking around talking to God.  Shortly after, we had many groups of people stop to buy muffins! Our son was so thankful & gave praise out loud to our Heavenly Father!  It was so encouraging and convicting for me to see the faith of a child lived out…again.  Luke 18:17 “Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” NASB

We had people stopping all the way up to the very end, even when we were packing up.  At the end of the morning we had sold all but 4 ( I let the boys have 2 muffins each as we neared 9 am) of our 130 muffins and raised just over $250.00!!! For muffins!! I am still amazed at the help & support of family, friends, and our community.  The kindness & generosity everyone showed, the joy of my sons (and myself!) even though we woke up so early, and everyone who waved and gave a smile truly made it a memorable morning. Thank You.

We are quickly making more muffins and will have some different flavors, so be sure to come see us next week to try a new flavor!  We’ll be making around 160 muffins this week so feel free to invite family, friends, and co-workers to visit us at our second Muffin Monday in May!
